The school club fair was Monday during lunch. Gibson and Adia staffed the Scavenger Hunt table.

Becky is the advisor for the Scavenger Hunt and for the Dungeons and Dragons club (aka Tabletop Game Club.)

This week Becky's Construction Math class made Dimensional Analysis Brownies. Becky rewrote a brownie recipe, changing the measurements to non-standard units. Most students converted the recipe to tablespoons and teaspoons correctly.

Becky brought ingredients and a microwave to school so students could make themselves a brownie after they completed the math.

Getting the math right was only half the work. Some students had challenges with the baking.

The two biggest issues with baking were not mixing the ingredients well enough and not measuring carefully. However, most of the brownies turned out great and students enjoyed making themselves a tasty snack.

It was a stressful week for both Brandan and Becky and we found ourselves with matching eye twitches on Friday night. We took a break from work to attend the high school Homecoming game. Our team lost by a lot, but scored two fantastic touchdowns in the last minutes of the game which were fun to watch.

Gibson and Adia went to the Homecoming Dance together on Saturday night. We took this photo when Gib stopped by to pick up the tickets for the dance.

Abe shared some photos he took with friends last week in Provo Canyon. From the left are Spencer, Camden, Ethan, Abe, Jake and Ashton.

Fun fact: Helen and her friend, Lily, were driving the Alpine Loop at the same time. We shared the photo Helen took last week.

Helen went camping with friends during her fall break from school.

Front to back are Angela, Riley, Lily, Helen and Alex.

Here they are sitting around the fire. Fall break is a great pause in the middle of fall term.

This is another lab photo from Abe. We know the man on the right as Elder Pratt. He also served a mission in Busan.

This is a photo of Helen and friends at a football game on Saturday night.

Helen is gaining experience as a legal intern for a non profit called Canyon Guard this semester. She is representing the organization at a panel discussion later this month. This is the poster advertising the event.

Becky covered for another teacher who had to leave school early this week. The teacher moved into a new classroom this year, occupying a space that was previously the classroom of Mr. Rogan, a teacher who retired two years ago. The new teacher has redecorated the space, but left the painting of a tiger that Helen painted for a book report with Mr. Rogan. Becky was happy to see this reminder of Helen still hanging.

Adia asked Gibson to homecoming with this cute sign and dino pajamas.

Gibson helped Becky try out a new brownie recipe for her Construction Math classes. In two weeks she will be teaching dimensional analysis: the process to convert units. Her plan is to rewrite a recipe using wacky units instead of teaspoons and tablespoons. Becky's Construction Math classes are twice as big as her Math in Society class which used a regular kitchen to bake brownies. We've heard of making brownies in a mug, but we have never tried it for ourselves. The process is ridiculously simple. We mixed all of the ingredients in a mug and then microwaved the mug for 1 minute.

Gibson followed the instructions exactly and made a brownie in a ceramic mug. Becky made hers in a paper cup like her students would use. Gib's tasted delicious. Becky's brownie had good texture, but tasted terrible. She forgot to add the sugar! Besides that mistake, our experiment was a success and Becky is confident her students can make the brownies in her classroom (with lots of paper towels and wipes on hand for spills).

This is a photo from one of Abe's lab classes at BYU.

One of Becky's math classes baked brownies this week for a bake off. Each group started with the same recipe and was given a different constraint like cutting the recipe in half. Three of the groups made delicious pans of brownies. One group put far too much salt in their batch and another group ended up with inexplicable sugar lumps.

Here's a close up of one of the chunks of sugar. The school principal, voice principal and main secretary came to class to judge the brownies. The secretary thought she broke a tooth when she bit into a brownie, felt something hard, and then spit out something hard and white. The principal nearly choked on the salty brownies. All in all it was great fun and the judges were good sports.

Abe went to a Salt Lake Real game this week with some friends.

Here is a photo of Abe, Camden and Ashton inside the stadium.

Gibson and Becky went to Ashland this week so Gibson could get his senior photos taken. It was a beautiful fall day and a pleasant way to spend a warm afternoon.

Becky meant to ask the photographer to take a photo of her and Gibson, but forgot. We took a selfie before heading home.

This is a photo of Abe in a different lab class.

Brandan spent the week at home recovering from surgery. His surgeon had to stitch up a torn muscle as well as repair a hernia so Brandan has been more sore than he anticipated. He's worked on a few projects while he's been home and did most of a 1000 piece puzzle.

Ashton's dad, Justin, took the boys to the Sunday morning session of general conference. From the left are Spencer, Malakai, Jake, Ashton, Abe, Camden and Justin.

This is a photo inside the conference center.

These are notes Helen took while watching conference.

They're too beautiful not to document them.

Helen watched conference with her friend, Lily, and then they drove up the Alpine Loop.

We feel thankful for all of the beautiful talks and music at conference and motivated to be better disciples of Jesus Christ.
