17 May 2009

Sophie has started doing her own laundry.  She likes feeling responsible for herself.  She does a great job which makes us think a 9 or 10 year old could do laundry just fine.  Watch out, Abe!

Our town hosted police officers from all over the northwest and Canada for a motorcycle riding competition.  A parking lot was laid out in an elaborate maze of traffic cones.  Becky took the kids to watch the police officers practice one day and they liked watching the motorcycles weave through the course so much, Brandan took them back to watch the competition.  All of the officers were happy to answer questions and let the kids look at their bikes.

Helen's dance class ended this week with a recital.  We all enjoyed watching her dance.  She kept her eyes on her teacher and carefully copied every move.

Sophie snapped this funny photo after the show.  Helen is dashing to the refreshment table.  If you can only eat one of the treats on a table piled with goodies (rice crispie treats), you want to make sure you get one.

This is our front yard, but this is not our yard sale.  Every Spring our town advertises a hugely popular city-wide yard sale.  It's a fun morning to enjoy good weather, see friends and neighbors and look for deals.  The yard sale next door sprawled down the sidewalk, which made it possible to scoop up bargains just steps away from our front door.  (Chelsea still has an exercise machine available, if you're interested.)

I had so much fun with Gibson, what a good natured little boy, he reminds me of my little Helen. I'm so glad the two times I've done nursery in this ward have been when you've had a nursery baby. I love that new photo header with the kids feet. Very sweet. Sophie, not only you can paint and act. . .now you are a regular mother's helper!

I am so mad that I missed the policeman show. I was fully intending to go. Spencer said that he saw 100 or so of them on the road when he was coming home from the camp out. Thanks for the info on that one. I am sure Helen and all of the girls had such fun taking a dance class. What a cute idea.

The Motorcycle's looked like so much fun, we had such a busy weekend we never made it over there, but we will have to put it on the calendar for next year! And, I love the new feet photo, so cute, is that from Jolyn?

I love the new look of your blog. Congrats to Helen on her recital. We are big believers in each doing their own laundry--way to go Sophie. Becky, you are a really good mother. I love reading what you and your family are doing each week. Keep up the great work.

Sounds like a lot of fun with the art show, policeman demo and lots of new plants. I love the new header of the cute, little kiddie feet.
