10 April 2011

Abe played at the Guitar Society this week for the 2nd time. He played "Minuet for Anna" by J. S. Bach. Abe practices his ukulele after breakfast every morning. The mellow sound is perfect for early mornings.

Helen made herself a checklist earlier this week to plan out her day. She showed great organization and worked hard to complete her list.

Abe started Cub Scouts this week. He had a wonderful time at his first den meeting.

We woke up to a big surprise Thursday morning-- SNOW!

Becky ran the Pear Blossom Run on Saturday-- a great 10 mile race. The race gets fantastic local support. Seeing so many friends and neighbors out on the course (it's an out and back race so you really do see almost everyone coming or going) makes you feel like the whole world runs.

During Spring Break, we visited our friends, Tim and Kirse, in Vancouver. Their kids had Spring Break this week and they returned the visit with a quick overnighter. The kids put on a very avant-gard production for us involving Greek goddesses, Spiderman, 3 archaeologists and lots of shrieking and laughing.

Hi Becky--congrats on the 10 mile race! Looks like fun. I love Helen's checklist. Makes me excited when I see my kids take initiative like that. She's probably watched you make lots of lists!

Wow I can't believe Abe is in cub scouts! The more I get to know about scouting the more I think it is great for boys! I am sure he will love it. Great job on the run.

Way to go on the 10 miler. What a fun community event.
I'm so glad Spencer has such fun little buddies to go through the scout program with.
Helen is so organized to be thinking in lists at the age of 6.

Wow, Abe, great job on the guitar! I love Helen's list - did she accomplish them all? Great job running, that's something I can't do for more than one or two blocks.

Wow. Call me crazy, but Abe looks very much like his Uncle Joe at the same age. I bet I can even find the picture to prove it. I'll send you a copy when I have a minute to get it out. =)

When Bill was a scout master during medical school I vocalized too often my hope that the church would abandon the scouting program altogether. Now that John is nearing cub scouts, I can't wait for him to join. One more reminder of what a good thing it is that I do not rule world.
