We had scheduled Saturday pretty tightly: Easter egg hunt, soccer game, then Abe's baptism. As we came home from the game to change for the baptism, Gibson tripped and hit his face on the corner of a picnic bench, splitting his upper lip. The gaping V obviously needed stitches. The stake baptism program began in less than an hour (Abe needed to be there in 30 minutes.) To make a long story short-- and thanks to the goodness of many people in our ward and stake-- we were able to postpone the baptism 3 hours while Gibson was seen at the ER. A bit of grace-- Gibson held very still while his lip was numbed then got stitches. He did not need to be sedated as the doctor had anticipated for a child his age, which would have extended our ER stay. Gibson's composure made it possible for Grandma and Grandpa to stay for the baptism and meet their other obligations at home. |

So glad Gibson is okay - what a trooper throughout the whole process! Congratulations to Abe - he looks so handsome in his suit. How sweet that grandma and grandpa were able to stay for the baptism and help out during the emergency - and I'm sure Sophie and Helen were great helps then as well. Love that last photo of your sweet kids - I agree that they are such blessings!
I'm glad your day ended up turning out happy. Abe, that is so wonderful that you could be baptised by your dad. You guys do look great in your matching suits.
Gibson is so tough! I can't believe he sat composed for stitches!
Oh my goodness! That read like an adventure book. I'm glad everything worked out. As a mom, you just have to wake up ready--because who knows what is next? I'm happy for Abe. What a sweet combination to have Easter and a baptism!
Your family is so sweet. The baptism was great. I'm glad we were able to attend.
I like the egg dying technique and Gibson's egg pointer. He was quite the trooper to not need the anesthetic.
I don't know if you recall the day of our second child's baptism our fourth child fell and hit his head 1 hour before the baptism and needed stitches. Bill ended up giving Will stitches in the bathroom. Not such a pretty job but Will's hair covers it nicely. Still we were about an hour late for the baptism but the other families waited for us. I'm not sure why we didn't think to do a separate baptism for our family. But Zoey loves to tell the story. Perhaps Abe will too.
