Abe's guitar teacher, Steve, brought a new instrument to Abe's lesson this week. It's a Swedish folk instrument called a nykelharpa. You hold it like a guitar, play it with a bow and push levers to make different chords. Steve has only had it for a week, but he can already play some songs on it. He has a large assortment of instruments from around the world-- if it has strings, Steve can probably play it.
We had a terrific 4th of July of holiday. We only have photos of the parade. Our Primary walked and rode bikes in the parade. In the photo, Gib is wearing a fuzzy blue mustache. The parade moved too slowly for him to really ride his bike. He just sat on his bike and pushed himself along with his feet.
The kids were supposed to bring a parent with them. Sofi went with Abe and Gib as their grown up. Luckily, Joey also came with her brothers so Sofi had a friend to walk with.
Here's a photo of the kids after the parade. Helen watched the parade instead of walking in it. She wanted to be sure she collected plenty of candy. She gathered a shopping bag full and generously shared it with Abe and Gibson.
Our friends, Mary and John, made the holiday weekend extra special by coming to visit with their three kids. They moved to Seattle in February and it was fun to spend time with them. Abe, Helen and Gibson loved playing with Liam and Ethan. This is a photo of the kids before church on Sunday.
We all fell in love with baby Vivian.
Our kids haven't spent very much time with babies. Vivian is delightful. She's very sweet and even tempered.
The kids have decided that Vivian is the cutest baby in the world.

I saw that instrument being played for the first time recently - Morgan played it at a symphony guild dinner. I wonder if Steve is the guy who lent it to him. I wish we could have seen Mary and John, we just barely missed them!
