Helen was one of the graduating seniors honored at the Top 5% awards ceremony on Thursday night. Each of the seniors gave a short speech, thanking their families and teachers and describing their plans for the future.

Each senior invited a teacher to honor at the event. Helen invited Mr. Rogan, her business teacher and DECA advisor. Several other seniors invited him as well, which was a nice tribute to him as he is retiring at the end of the year. Mr. Rogan stands out for his high expectations, energy and compassion.

Our ward was well represented at the Honors Night. From the left are Marcus, Emma, Annie and Helen.

This is a photo of a recent school project Helen made. It's a character web of The Great Gatsby. Helen hand drew each character on an iPad and then printed them out on a large format printer.

We feel very lucky to have Sofi and Nate visiting us for the weekend. They came to town to get their marriage license and finalize some wedding reception details. On Saturday morning we did baptisms at the temple. Here's a wet hair photo in front of the temple afterwards.

On Saturday afternoon we hiked the Bandersnatch trail in Ashland and visited the remodeled Japanese garden in Lithia Park. Everything was green and fresh.

The first Japanese garden in the park was built in 1916. A recent bequest provided funds for a complete makeover, including adding space that is ADA accessible.

We stopped for dinner at Comal, the best Mexican restaurant in Central Point. Nate leaves Monday night and Sofi leaves Tuesday morning. Only two weeks until their wedding!
