Brandan spoke at the Medford Chamber of Commerce"s monthly meeting on April 14. The purpose of his speech was to encourage chamber member businesses to partner with the Southern Oregon Association of Physicians and Providers to help recruit physicians to Southern Oregon.

Gibson was honored as one of 17 graduating seniors in the top 5% of GPAs. Gib's GPA is a very healthy 4.1.

Each student invited a teacher to honor at the event. Gibson invited John Lohman, his physics and computer programming teacher.

Here's a photo of all of the students

This is a photo of all of the students with their guests of honor.

The youth in our ward held a dessert auction to pay for summer camps. Gibson won't be attending camp this summer, but he made a cake anyways to help other young men and women. He chose a complicated recipe and created the cake over a few days. This is a photo of him mixing up the cake batter.

Adia came over Friday afternoon to help him assemble the cake.

Here is the finished cake which Gibson labeled "Decadent 6-Layer Chocolate Caramel Cake." Besides six layers of rich chocolate cake, it had caramel filling, chocolate caramel frosting and a caramel drizzle. The cake sold for $50.

After moving the sprinklers and leveling the ground, Brandan ordered sod for our backyard. No one was going to be home when the sod was delivered so Brandan labeled the driveway where he wanted the pallet placed.

Elder Brunner and Elder Gibby helped Brandan and Gibson lay the sod on Friday afternoon. It took the four of them about 30 minutes to finish.

Adding sod makes our backyard look more like a backyard. We still have more plants to place in our extra wide borders around the grass, but we're closer to being finished for the spring.

Abe went to a bonfire with friends on Thursday night. Aaron and Ashton are in the photo with Abe.

Abe's triathlon is next weekend. He tried swimming a mile in open water on Saturday to prepare. The water was about 38 degrees so the swimmers got out before they got hypothermia. The triathlon is in St. George so the water should be warmer on May 10. Abe, Ashton and Tate are all competing in the triathlon. Their friend, Ben, came along to paddle a support kayak and drove them home when they were all freezing from their polar plunge.

Gibson only has a month of left until he graduates--and only 19 days of school. Becky made a color coded paper chain to count down. Dark blue are for regular school days, light blue are for late start Wednesdays, the lightest blue are for graduation practice days, purple is for weekends and pink is for graduation day.
