On Friday we took a guided tour of a nearby arboretum. It was fascinating to learn about the different trees. The guide spent a long time teaching us the differences between pines, firs, spruces and cedars. And (big surprise) the Douglas Fir is none of the above. It's a separate species-- Pseudotsuga-- or false hemlock. Just the sort of almost useful trivia that Becky is crazy about. Helen was delighted with a grassy field dotted with daisies and buttercups. |

I loved catching up on your blog and especially reading the re-caps of the world traveling adventures. What an awesome experience for Brandan and Sophie! Digestives are a funny name for those little cookies aren't they?
What?! The Douglas Fir is not a fir? How confusing. I guess it's kind of like a koala bear? Next time we're outdoors together, you'll have to tell me about the trees.
I like that you take pictures rather keeping... momentos. That's a good policy to reduce clutter.
I love to hear about all of your outings and learning adventures. I want to walk in a meadow of flowers like Helen. Sounds wonderful.
