4 September 2011

We picked some blackberries this week. Abe, Helen and Gibson pretty much ate every blackberry they picked on the spot. The rest of us picked enough for a delicious blackberry cobbler with some leftovers for snacking.

Gibson thought the red, unripe berries were raspberries until he tried eating them. Unripe blackberries are very, very tart.

We had a burst of creativity this week. Helen and Gibson made some colorful crayons by melting broken pieces of crayon in a muffin tin.

Helen also looked through some fabric Sarah sent and picked out pieces to make into a bag for her violin music. She helped sew it together by pushing the sewing machine pedal while Becky steered the fabric.

Abe went a little crazy drawing Chibi guys. Chibi is a cute Japanese cartoon style where the figures have huge heads and tiny bodies. Here's a photo of some of the pictures Abe drew.

Sofi had a couple of friends over for smores and a backyard movie Saturday night. The rest of us invited ourselves to the party. Gibson likes roasting marshmallows better than he likes eating them. He likes letting them catch fire, blowing them out and then throwing them in the firepit.

I like all of these fun crafty ideas. The crayons would be fun to make, and Helen's bag is so cute.
Abe has quite a collection of his drawings.
Smores are yummy to eat AND very fun to make. I like Gibson's technique.

Hi Becky! I admire so much the simplicity and consistency of your blog. Lesson today in Relief Society about keeping family history. I thought of you.

Hmm... in my family, I'm the one that eats the ones we pick, and Samuel saves them all (in fact, he doesn't eat any).

I like the crayon idea. I have too big a collection of broken crayons.

Abe is quite the aspiring artist!

Your kids are getting so grown up. Abe is quite the artist! I hope Sofi is enjoying soccer. Helen is such a pretty girl- I love the earrings. I can't believe Gibson is old enough for preschool.
