18 March 2012

Sofi's school celebrated Spirit Week this week by asking the students to dress up with a different theme each day.  Monday was Sofi's favorite day, "Book Character Day."  Sofi and a group of friends came dressed as characters from the Hunger Games.

Abe did an oral report this week on Theodore Roosevelt.  Abe felt a connection to Roosevelt since Roosevelt suffered from asthma and enjoyed the outdoors like Abe does.

Abe and Sofi played in a piano recital on Saturday.  The theme of the recital was Classical and Romantic composers.  Abe played "Song of Joy" by Beethoven and Sofi played "Avalanche" by Heller.  Their teacher, Teena, is in the photo with them.

Brandan showed Abe how to program a PC using SiMPLE.  Abe can write short computer programs now that do things like show a picture of a helicopter and make honking noises.

Helen used stickers to decorate a mad scientist's lab.

I wish SIMPLE were simple enough for Samuel. I need to direct that computer-hungry kid towards some more productive screen time. (Adele needs HIS help navigating the computer). Has Sofi seen the new Hunger games movie?

Wow I am impressed that Abe is programming! I love the piano recital picture. Those drawings of Roosevelt were amazing!
