10 March 2013

Our camera broke several months ago.  We've been getting by with the cameras on our phones and Sofi's camera while we decided what to replace our old camera with.  Brandan and Becky both have a strong interest in photography, but no experience.  We finally decided to take a leap to a DSLR camera.  Becky signed up for a basic photography class.  The camera is pretty intimidating and exciting at the same time.  The photo below is of Becky's classmate's drink-- it's the first photo she took that was in focus and properly exposed.

Our kids would be good subjects to practice on, but they get tired of sitting still very quickly.

Becky doesn't care how goofy they get as long as they stay in one spot while she checks the shutter speed, aperture, ISO and light meter.

It worked well to practice taking photos while Helen was practicing the violin.

In other news, we've had a beautiful Spring weekend.  We might have spent all of Saturday afternoon doing yard work, but friends invited us to play at the park.  This is a photo of Gib pushing the girls on a merry-go-round.

Abe tried playing tennis for the first time.  The big boys played 3 on 3.  Abe really enjoyed himself and was pretty good at getting the ball over the net.

The photos you've taken so far look great. You're brave to try that kind of a camera. I look forward to seeing your budding photography.
