17 March 2013

Sofi's English and History classes worked together to learn how to make a business proposal.  Their scenario imagined they were a logging company looking for investors to help them buy a helicopter.  The students presented their proposals to a panel of experts from the BLM and a helicopter manufacturing company.  Sofi's portion of the presentation explained why using a helicopter was necessary to make logging environmentally responsible and profitable.  She did a great job-- we're ready to buy a helicopter.

This is a photo of Helen helping to put the toys on our neighbors' trampoline away.  We love how the static makes her hair stick up.

Gib, Abe and Helen helped Becky put together some Easter eggs for Becky's visiting teaching route.  Each egg has a scripture and a big handful of candy inside.

There was some leftover candy when we finished so Abe ate a cupful while he read.

Gib asked Brandan to take the training wheels off his bike.

Abe's school participated in Battle of the Books this year.  He had to read 16 books, memorize their titles and authors and be prepared to answer trivia questions about the content.  Abe's team was eliminated at the school level, but he got to go to regionals as an alternate for the winning team.  He played two rounds at regionals.

Gib played a few games of chess against himself this week.  Somehow he managed to keep all the pieces on the board AND earn extra queens when he played.

Becky made a roast chicken for dinner on Sunday.  We don't eat a lot of meat, so an entire roast chicken at one meal was an event Helen and Gib anticipated all week.  We have enough leftovers for a couple more meals.

Becky's photography class ended this week.  This is a photo of Sofi she took for an assignment.  She could tell she nailed the assignment when the teacher offered true criticism, not just encouragement.  We love our new camera-- we have a lot to learn and practice, but the potential to take the photos we want is limitless.

Sofi looks beautiful, a compliment to the subject matter and photographer. Spencer was very bummed when they got out of battle of the books, but it was fun for him to read all of the books. He got really into it - competitive reading, who knew.

Before I even got to the photography part of your blog, I was thinking about how great that picture of Gib playing chess is. Your photography is looking beautiful.

I think Samuel has the exact same bike as Gibson.
