8 September 2013

Our kids all went back to school this week.  Sofi is a sophomore.  She has a challenging course schedule this trimester: Chinese 4, Spanish 1, AP Calculus, Biology, English and Statistics.  Sofi's school doesn't offer a statistics course, but Sofi wanted to take one so they've agreed to an online college course she'll work on independently in the library.   For her first day of school, Sofi wore a dress she made herself this summer.

Abe is in 5th grade this year-- top of the heap for elementary school.  He earned 34 AR points his first week back at school.

Helen is in 3rd grade.  She has the same teacher this year as she did for kindergarten.  She loves her teacher and her class.

Gib is in 1st grade.  Sofi did all the kids hair for the first day.  He got sick his first week of school so he had a rough start.  He likes school and hopefully next week will be more fun.

Gib stayed home from school Friday.  This photo shows the remains of his breakfast.

Gib was feeling well enough on Saturday to play his first ever soccer game.  We don't sign our kids up for soccer until 1st grade.  Some of the kids on his team are playing for their 3rd year.  Gib gets around with a soccer ball pretty well, thanks to lots of scrimmages with Abe. . .

. . .who must have also showed him how to play with his tongue sticking out!  Abe also had a game on Saturday.  Here's a photo of Abe with some fancy footwork.

Sofi spoke in our stake conference today.  Her topic was how to learn more effectively at church.  In our biased opinion, it was the best talk of the meeting.

Sofi is a pretty amazing girl. That was a great talk. Her dress is gorgeous, I can't believe she made that. I can't wear anything I have tried making myself. And I can't believe she is a sophomore in Calculus. That IS a tough schedule!
