Before we get started with photos, tonight's post gets special mention since it is our 500th blog post.
Sofi sent us a photo of some of the kids who gathered in her dorm to watch the first presidential debate. Jennie and Misha are sitting on the couch. Sofi is sitting on the ledge. On the floor are Kishan, Diddy and Maria. Jennie is one of Sofi's roommates. The other people live in her building.
Brandan and Gibson did an experiment with sugar water and food coloring to demonstrate density. They mixed up several glasses of sugar water with different amounts of sugar in each glass. They colored the water with a different color for each concentration. Finally they poured some of each solution into the same glass and watched to see what would happen.
The sugar water layered in the glass with the water with the most sugar on the bottom (yellow) and the water with the least sugar on top (red). They found the directions for the experiment in Gibson's cub scout book.
Our big event for the week was General Conference. We rearranged our family room to make it easier to watch. We set up a 1500 piece puzzle behind the couch.
Gibson and Helen watched conference from a tent. Abe hung out in the tent a little, too.
You can see the tent in this photo on the other side of the couch. We connected our projector to our laptop and it worked great. Brandan and Abe are working on the puzzle.
Abe got a mini robot at Radio Shack last week and wanted to build it during conference. Since he was using lead to solder the circuit board, Brandan wanted him to work outside. Abe worked on it in-between the morning and afternoon sessions on Saturday.
Here's Abe with his circuit board in progress.
Brandan watched the world report between sessions with Gibson.
Gibson suggested we start a new tradition of eating sundaes on conference Sunday. Not a bad idea!
Sofi attended the Sunday morning session in the conference center with friends. In the photo are Zach and Sofi. Not in the photo are Joey and Harrison who were the other part of their group.
Here's the view from their seats. It was a memorable event, mainly for the dumpster diving they engaged in after conference to find Joey's phone. Turns out the stories you hear about perfectly good food being thrown away are true!
The weekend flew by! Brandan liked the theme throughout several talks that emphasized the personal blessings of the gospel. Becky liked that Abe, Helen and Gibson are old enough to listen to conference without gimmicks. Abe liked Elder Renlund's story about lighting a firecracker in church. Helen's favorite part was having a girls' night for the women's conference and Gibson liked the good food we ate all weekend.

Congratulations on your 500th blog post!! We too enjoyed conference. This year everyone came upstairs and we watched it in our library. We synced, our computers so that everyone could see, however only one of the computers had the sound on. I knit 2 dishcloths and a scarf during the sessions of conference. I liked the message of the gospel bringing joy into lives that was prevalent in several talks. Hugs and love to all...
I loved seeing Sofi's college life photos. Fun that she got to meet up with Joey and Zach! And I guess the dumpster diving means they are being ... frugal?
