Brandan spent a few days in Salt Lake with his dad and Martha at the annual RootsTech conference. RootsTech is a huge family history event. Brandan brought home stories to share, increased love for his family and new ideas for spreading family history work in our ward. He also submitted his own sample for DNA testing so stay tuned for the results!
Our snow came late this year so the kids only had one more ski day. Even though there was enough snow to open the ski hill, the snow was patchy in places. The kids had a great time. Back row: Clara, Helen, Hannah, Lily and Sophie. Front row: Gibson.
Gibson had time to read at lunch.
Here are Clara, Helen and Sophie riding the chair lift.
Helen and Gibson both made a lot of progress from last year. They both tried terrain hills this year. Maybe they were inspired by watching the Olympics.
Helen and Clara would like to open a store at their school to sell school T-shirts and snacks. They took a field trip to the high school this week to see how the student store works there. The girls are going to write a business proposal and submit it to their principal.
The girl got to help a few customers to get some experience. Helen learned that cup of noodles are one of the store's top sellers.
Every year the freshman English teacher assigns his class a 4 minute speech to prepare, memorize and present. They work on it for an entire trimester. To raise the stakes even higher, the teacher invites community members to listen to the speeches and grade them. Parents are also invited. After weeks of revising and rehearsing, Abe gave his speech on Friday. He remembered everything he wanted to say and finished his speech a little longer than the 4 minute minimum time limit while maintaining good eye contact with the audience.
