We finally have enough snow for the ski area to open. Helen and Gibson's school missed the first 2 weeks of ski school due to lack of snow. Helen got to go snowboarding with her class on Monday. She was able to pick up right where she left off last year and made a lot of progress on her turns. This is a photo of Clara, Sophie and Helen eating lunch at the ski lodge.
Gibson didn't get to go because he was home sick with Abe. We've been fortunate to miss a lot of the sickness going around this year, but our luck ran out. All the kids spent some of the week home from school this week with classic flu symptoms: fever, chills, aches and a cough.
Becky spent several days this week at the temple helping plant some of the 3500 plants that were delivered on Tuesday. Our temple was closed for cleaning and a landscape reboot. Only two paid employees came from Portland to supervise the planting.
The professionals returned to Portland on Thursday afternoon, leaving thousands of plants that still needed to be placed and planted. Our temple's gardener is a church service missionary and her little group of volunteers would take weeks to finish the job. The temple will reopen on Tuesday so our stake sent out a call for help and a steady stream of hard working men and women got most of the planting done by Saturday night. This is a photo of the parking lot.
Helen was proud of the lunch she made herself on Saturday and took a photo of it. In England this is called a ploughman's lunch.
