Our big event this week was Abe's graduation from high school. This is a photo of his regalia: blue cords for BIS (one of the three small schools that make up Crater High School), yellow cords for his GPA being in the top 5% of the graduates, a black and white tassel for all Crater High students and a yellow tassel for being a member of National Honor Society.
This is Abigail and Abe waiting in the gym for graduation to begin.
Here's Abe walking into the stadium at the beginning of the program.
Here is Abe walking forward to receive his diploma.
Because of covid, the three small high schools each held a separate graduation ceremony and graduation lasted about 30 minutes. This is a photo of the recessional. The weather was chilly, but dry and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
The new graduate!
We probably spent more time taking photos after graduation than we spent watching the ceremony. From the left are Abe, Camden, Jake, Spencer, Ashton and Malakai.
Here's 5 of us together.
Another photo with the moms.
And the dads.
Abe and Abigail.
This is Abigail with her youngest sister, Alena, and Gibson.
This is a photo of the graduates and their siblings. From the left are Ike, Kate, Jake and Seth; Gibson, Abe and Helen; Logan, Eddy and Camden; Malakai, Julien, Sawyer and Gabe; Ashton, Annie and Luci; Luke, Spencer and Ben.
Ashton's younger sister, Annie, and Jake's younger brother, Seth, are the same age as Helen. These 3 kids will graduate in 2023.
Abe has received many heartfelt cards and gifts which he appreciates very much. Tim drew this original card for him.
We gave Abe the quilt made from his blue jeans.
Helen and Gibson still have a few days of school left. Gibson had his last day of online school on Wednesday.
Helen built an aquaponics tank for her biology class out of a bucket. She decorated the bucket with spray paint.
This is a photo of a pump circulating water through the tubing. The system is designed to grow plants and fish with the same water and nutrients. Her group only had to show how the tank would work; they didn't have to grow anything.
On Saturday, we joined Abe's friends to celebrate graduation. Tiffany created this yard art to honor the boys.
Here are the photos of 5 year old Abe and 18 year old Abe.
There is a seventh boy in our ward who is the same age as the others and also graduated from high school this year, Gideon. Gideon has Down's syndrome and his path diverged from the others' in high school, but the boys have fun memories of being in Primary and scouts together.
Willie and Andy DeKorte treat everyone they meet like family and the boys all have special regard for these two angels.
Andrea and Blake hosted the party in their beautiful yard. Here are Lila, Kate, Helen and Annie.
Eddy and Gib had their own table for dinner.
These boys are a little tired of posing for photos, but here is one more.
