21 September 2025

On Sunday we had a great treat and talked to Gibson in Sibu, Sofi in New Haven, Abe in Provo and Helen in Salt Lake City. Gibson reported on a week of life in Malaysia. He is assigned to a Mandarin speaking branch and is trying to refresh/learn Mandarin. He loves Malaysian food and lunch and dinner are two bright spots of his day.

This is a photo from the airplane window as Gibson landed near his area. Sibu is in east Malaysia on the island of Borneo.

Gibson is in a trio with Elder Chadwick from Logan, Utah (on the left) and Elder Hansen from St. George, Utah (on the right). This is a photo of one of the delicious meals Gibson has enjoyed.

There are two cranes at work at Crater High School while workers replace the old wooden trusses in part of the roof with steel trusses. In the meantime, about 20 classrooms are inaccessible. Becky is hosting another teacher in her classroom who was displaced by the construction. The teacher teaches classes in Becky's classroom during Becky's prep period and has a desk and filing cabinet in the room for her home base. Sharing a classroom is challenging, especially for the other teacher who is in a different room every period, but the construction should be completed in January.

Becky cut out the fabric for a baby quilt this weekend. An aide in the special education department who works with many of Becky's students is having a baby in October. Becky hopes to finish the quilt before she takes her maternity leave.
