This was week 2 of the boys' staycation. We worked on projects at home and did some fun things here in town. Andy and Willie hired Abe and Gibson to do some yard work.
They pulled weeds for about 2 ½ hours.
Gibson added legs to his cello box.
Then he finished it. He chose this stain to match his cello. He has put 3 coats of the stain on and it is almost done!
Brandan and Gibson finished the adirondack chairs with grey stain.
Here are the finished chairs on our front porch. Abe now sits in them while he waits to get picked up for soccer.
We watched world cup soccer. This is Argentina's win against Nigeria. Abe wore his Messi jersey to watch the game.
We went wading in Bear Creek, exploring and skipping rocks. Abe swam in some of the deeper parts.
Abe made some more pieces for his harmonograph. He needed to drill some holes at an angle, so we made this jig to support the wood at the right angle. His project is nearly done, only a few more things to make then he will able to put it all together.
We rode bikes at the dirt track. Gibson also brought his Olli and drove it on the track.
This is Brandan going off a jump.
We made and ate lots of yummy food. Here we are making dutch oven nachos.
Gibson and Brandan made chocolate waffles. Abe was on a backpacking trip with the scouts.
Becky and Helen got home late Friday night. Hip hip hooray! Becky will post more about the trip. Helen set the stopwatch on her watch when she woke up at 3 am in Copenhagen to catch their first flight home. She stopped her watch when they got home, over 29 hours later, but only 10:30 pm for our local time.
Helen went to her art group Saturday night. This month the girls painted something inspired by the artist Raoul Dufy.
Here's the picture they used for inspiration.

That cello stand is so cool! I have been wanting one for Samuel, but there always seems to be some other instrument that I have to buy first. Those wooden ones are so expensive, it's so neat that Gibson is making one for himself! And it also seems like more motivation for him to practice once he has that made.
