Our town is home to a small pioneer cemetery. The cemetery used to be owned by a Masonic Lodge, but the upkeep became too much for their dwindling and aging members. Recently the city took over the cemetery. Brandan attended a workshop last Saturday to learn how to repair damaged headstones. The newspaper published an article this week about the workshop that included several photos of Brandan.
The city plans to host several clean up days each year, utilizing volunteers to keep the cemetery in good repair.
Jason is taking Wilderness Survival as an elective at school. Gibson will be taking the same class in the spring. One of the requirements of the class is to build a shelter and sleep in it. Gibson asked the teacher if he could help Jason build his shelter now and count the experience in the spring. The boys built their shelter at Eddy's house with Eddy's help. They had a good time building the shelter and not a good time sleeping in it as they probably slept for only two hours. Gibson recorded some coyotes howling during the night.
On Saturday we joined other friends from our ward to help an elderly neighbor clean up her property and stack firewood. Gibson learned how to use a gas powered splitter and split some large logs so she can use them in her wood stove this winter.
