Gibson auditioned for YSSO again this fall and was selected to play in the youth orchestra.
With covid restrictions lifted, musicians can share stands again and more are able to participate. YSSO had enough musicians audition to once again have two groups, a youth orchestra and a youth symphony. Last year they had one combined orchestra/symphony.
Gibson was selected to be the principal cellist for the orchestra. The first rehearsal sounded a bit rough since all of the musicians were sight reading music they had just received. We know they'll sound wonderful in time for their concert in November.
Over the weekend, Becky got a text from her principal that she could move back into her classroom Monday morning. Brandan came in a couple of hours before school started and we got most of it done together, along with help from two custodians. The moves in and out were abrupt, but now Becky feels settled back in again.
Gibson and Brandan went mountain biking near Applegate Lake on Saturday. They tried to go last weekend, but Brandan broke the chain on his bike in the first 5 minutes of their ride. Besides the chain, his old bike needed several hundred dollars of repairs. Brandan found a great replacement on Craig's List in time to ride on Saturday.
Here's a photo of Gibson on the trail.
One more photo from Saturday. Gibson and Brandan are looking forward to more bike rides together.
