Gibson stayed up late one night and finished this puzzle. We started it on Sunday during General Conference at the beginning of October.
Before covid, Crater High School's drama club held a 24 hour play festival every year. Students start writing plays at 7 pm on Friday night, then work to produce them by 7 pm on Saturday night. The new drama teacher felt this year would be a good time to bring back the tradition. Brandan and Becky volunteered to supervise for the 4 am - 8 am shift. After fielding concerns from parents about sleep deprived students being more likely to get sick, the drama advisor decided to send the students home from midnight to 5:30 am. Compared to waking up early enough to get to school by 4 am, our 5:30 - 8 am shift felt very easy. We spent our time setting out breakfast for the students and cleaning the concessions area. We came back to the theater Saturday night to watch 4 short plays and were very impressed by the work the students had done in such a short time (now if they could just apply that work ethic to their math assignments!)
On Saturday, Helen drove Gibson and a couple of friends to Eugene for the state cross country meet. Several of their friends were competing.
Crater had a great day. The boys won state and the girls team came in second. This is a photo of the podium after the boys race, showing 5 of the top 10 runners were from Crater.
This is a photo of the podium for the team awards. Helen and Gibson had a fun day supporting their friends and enjoying a beautiful drive.
Brandan finished building a crosscut sled for his table saw on Saturday. The sled will help him cut long boards safely and accurately.
