26 May 2024

Gibson went to prom this weekend with a group of friends. Their prom weekend started Friday night when they got together to make bouquets and boutonnieres.  Grace completed an internship at a florist's shop last year and taught them how to arrange and connect the flowers. From the left are Jason, Gibson, Adia, Ed and Grace.

Gibson made a beautiful bouquet for Asia with roses, eucalyptus and baby's breath.

On Saturday the boys made a picnic for the girls and they met at Lithia Park in Ashland for lunch and lawn games.

After their picnic, the boys dropped the girls off to get ready for the dance. The boys came to our house to make dinner. Gibson grabbed some fresh basil from our garden.

They created an elegant tablescape. Gibson used his new flower arranging skills to make a bouquet for the table.

They served roasted red pepper tortellini, roasted asparagus with a balsamic reduction, fresh fruit, butter flake rolls and creme brûlée.

After dinner they went to Ed's house for photos.  Gibson's date is Adia and Ed's date is Grace.

Jason decided not to ask a girl to the dance and came as part of the group.

Prom was held at the Rogue X, a brand new sports center which was a good choice of venue for the event.

The dance was well planned and well attended and the kids had a great time.

The refreshments at the dance were Hawaiian shaved ice, an excellent choice for dancing teenagers. The shaved ice track passed out leis and Gibson collected a few. This is a photo of Gib with Evan, also known as Big Dog. After the dance, Gib's group went to Jason's house where they roasted marshmallows and hung out in the hot tub. It was a great end to a fun weekend.

Helen finished her training for Freshmen Orientation leader. The two week training was intense, but Helen enjoyed getting to know her fellow orientation leaders. This is a photo from the last day of training. From the left are Saloni, Sadie, Helen, Riley, Shelby and Elijah.

They also made clipboards on the last day. Back row: Arden, Addie and Saloni. Front row: Maya, Helen and Angela. Helen's clipboard has a photo of a koala dabbing.

A group went hiking together to Tunnel Springs. From the left are White, Helen, Tammy, Alex and AJ.

Helen spent Sunday afternoon painting at Red Butte Gardens and sent us a photo of her beautiful watercolor.
