28 November 2021

Here's a photo of our annual Thanksgiving tree, listing things we are thankful for.

Becky asked our Gospel Doctrine class to do a similar activity. "Family" was the most common blessing written on the leaves.

We are very thankful for the messenger app and the ability to talk to Abe! This is a photo from his last quarantine p-day. Helen, Abe and Gibson were wearing matching sweatshirts. Abe is now out of quarantine and serving in Tongyeong.

We started our Thanksgiving with the annual turkey trot, back after taking a covid break last year. Abigail came home from college for the holiday and ran the race with her sisters. Here is a photo of Abigail, Gib, Alena, Maddie, Helen and Aunika before the race.

Helen and Maddie finished together.

Here are Brandan, Becky, Gibson and Helen after the race. We love this fun tradition. It's great to see friends and neighbors and run a quick race before heading home to make dinner.

Here are Nick. Maddie, Helen, Abigail, Gibson, Alena and Aunika with their finisher medals. Gibson finished quickest in our family, tying Alena with a time of 15:29.

Back at home, Brandan worked on a variety of projects, including hanging Christmas lights with Gibson.

Brandan wrapped one tree in our yard to look like the trees on Temple Square and went higher up this year than ever before. We'll post a photo of the tree lit up at night next week.

Helen and Becky watched the Great British Baking Show while making Thanksgiving dinner. We've heard Thanksgiving dinner called the Super Bowl of cooking and it does help to have a good game plan.

Abe had messaged us earlier in the day to let us know he could call because of the holiday. This was a fun surprise! We enjoyed talking to Abe in Korea and Sofi in Salt Lake.

We shared a Thanksgiving prayer together, then continued talking while those of us in Oregon enjoyed our delicious dinner. We have so many blessings. It's been another wacky year and it looks like there are stormy skies ahead, but we are grateful for the Lord's constant care and loving kindness.
