Abe sent us a beautiful photo of Chittenango Falls. He and his district visited the falls on their p-day this week.
Crater's soccer team held their end of season soccer banquet on Thursday night. We all wore masks until dinner, then almost no one put their mask back on. It was a crazy soccer season and we're glad Gib got to play, even with all the wackiness due to covid, wildfires, bus shortages and missing refs.
Now that Gibson is vaccinated and soccer season is over, he has rejoined his scout troop for their regular activities. This Saturday they passed out fliers for Scouting for Food. Gibson's group got back to the church early so the boys helped clean leaves out of the parking lot.
After their service project, the scouts went to Crater Rock Museum. The museum has new display cases dedicated to artifacts from the Almeda fire of 2020. This case had pieces of glass that fused together in the heat of the fire (along with less impressive scorched metal pieces.)
Helen made a beautiful card for Alena's 14th birthday.
Gibson had his first symphony concert Saturday night. This is a photo of the symphony tuning. Gibson is second from the right.
And here they are taking a bow at the end of the concert. They beautifully played a wide range of music, from classical to contemporary.
Gibson's friend, Samuel, also plays the cello in the symphony.
We're proud of Gibson for trying something new!
For Come Follow Me, we read Doctrine and Covenants 130:2, 18-19; 132:13,19 and made a list of things we can take with us to the next life. Helen and Gibson drew suitcases packed with friends, family, knowledge and intelligence. We talked about how we can't take worldly things with us, but we can prioritize how we use our worldly things (money) to gain things we can take with us (knowledge).
Gibson had a second performance Sunday afternoon at Southern Oregon University. The symphony played even better the second time! This is a photo of the orchestra warming up before the concert began.
